Security forces kill 2 in Guinea protests

Guinea protests Guinea protests

At least two people have been confirmed dead after they were shot by security forces during an ongoing protest in Guinea.

According to GhanaWeb, several members of the coalition of politicians and activists that called the demonstrations were arrested.

The open-ended protest was stagged as an attempt to scupper President Alpha Condé's suspected plan to amend the constitution so he can serve a third term.

One protester - a student - was killed in the capital, Conakry. A second youth died in the northern city of Labe.

Previous demonstrations against the president have been broken up by security forces leading to at least 20 deaths.

Businesses, schools, and markets in Conakry have been shut since Monday.
