A Zimbabwe man due to be tested in a hospital for any signs of coronavirus fled the hospital before testing was done.
Though the Southern African country has no confirmed cases of the deadly virus, the man's decision to abscond has raised a bit of panic.
MyNigeria.com gathered that the 26-year-old entered Zimbabwe in February from Thailand, and was referred from a private clinic to Wilkins Infectious Disease Hospital in Harare on 8 March after he complained of a fever and sneezing.
"He did not meet the [World Health Organization] definition of a suspected case but was still earmarked for a Covid-19 test due to intensified surveillance that the country has adopted," Zimbabwe's health ministry said.
Efforts to reach the man after his little stunt has proved abortive. He was trailed to his home and a police report was made.
104 cases of coronavirus have now been confirmed across Africa.
