Video: Popular Ghanaian actor-turned-politician spotted drinking 'ogi' before hitting the campaign trail

Popular Ghanaian actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo was spotted sipping cereal pudding also known as “ogi” in an undisclosed location in Accra before hitting the campaign trail ahead of the Dec 7 polls.

Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constitituency is facing stiff competition from incumbent, Mrs Seyram Lydia Alhassan, the widow of the late MP for the constituency, Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko.

In the viral video, Dumelo can be seen sitting on a bench with his usual black customized party shirt. He looked unconcerned while the video was been recorded.

Mr. Dumelo will hope his influence in the creative industry and among the youth will swing the vote in his favour in a constituency known to be a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

An actor of repute, Mr. Dumelo ventured into politics in 2016 and was one of the most influential and outstanding celebrities who were seen campaigning for the NDC Government.

Meanwhile, industry colleagues have thrown their weight behind the man they believe will drive change in the creative space.

The latest to endorse him is Captain Planet of Ghanaian hip-life group, 4X4.

Sharing the video of the actor sipping the ogi on Twitter, Captain Planet wrote: “First of all, I wanna say may God bless your hustle. Secondly, I love the way you’re feeling free living your life & not doing any political big man things biaa.”

The rapper urged votes for John Dumelo by tagging him as a true leader and added he's hopeful the legislator will work in the interest of the entertainment industry.
