Sudanese PM sets up protest violence committee, gives one week to submit report

Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdallah Hamdok, has set up a committee to look into the violence that ensued during Thursday's protest.

The committee, according to the PM, is expected to submit a report within a week.

Although the police denied using bullets in dispersing the protests, Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors said some of the injuries were caused by live ammunition and some victims are in serious condition.

The Sudanese Transitional Government a committee to find perpetrators of violence used against pro-democracy protesters,

Hamdok said the committee led by the general prosecutor Taj Elsir Alhibir will submit its result in one week.

"You may all seen the regretted incidents that taken place last Thursday, when massive violence was used against the protesters and that is unacceptable by strongest terms, specially after the revolution” he said in a televised speech.

“The Ministry of Health said at least 53 civilians were injured Thursday in clashes between police and protesters.

Authorities confirmed Friday that some “penetrators” attacked police in the location of the protests and that led to the confrontation.

It said approximately 60 officers were injured.
