Social media applauds female barber with 30 years experience in Ghana

A Ghanaian woman has grabbed the attention of social media users after a video of her trimming the hair of her son surfaced online.

The woman, identified as Dora Portuphy is mother to popular Ghanaian blogger, Edward Blagogee.

According to sources, Mrs. Portuphy has helped members of her nuclear family and friends save some money by trimming their hair when the need arises.

Mr Portuphy is seen in the video styling the hair of her son like a man which plays into the adage 'What a man can do a woman can do better'.

Her story is helping to shape the narrative about women in the barbering profession.

Suzy Armah, an 11-year-old female barber, is another inspiring person in the profession who runs her own barbershop at Yawamatwa in the Bia West District in the Western North Region in Ghana.

The young entrepreneur has grabbed attention with her talent. Suzy is a rare gem for her age as she is not just a barber but also doubles as a professional dancer.

According to Suzy, her elder brother wanted to trim his hair some time ago but he had no money to go to the barbershop so she offered to help.
