Samuel Eto’o donates ambulances to Cameroon

Four-time African Footballer of the Year Samuel Eto’o has offered ten ambulances to the Cameroonian ministry of health to help improve proximity services in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

There have been a number of complaints from health officials about the urgent need to boost ambulance services in the central African country which has so far recorded 65,998 Covid-19 infection and 991 deaths.

“Donating 10 ambulances to the Ministry of Health in Cameroon. It was such an honour to be able to do this for my country so more people can be helped in emergency situations,” Eto’o said in a statement.

Local experts estimate the value of the ten vehicles to be €600,000 ($724,000).

This is not the first time the former Barcelona forward is making a donation to the health sector in his country.

In 2017, he financed the construction of a pediatric ward at the Laquintinie Hospital in Douala. And in early 2019, he made several donations to locals and health officials when the Covid-19 spread to Cameroon.
