Kenyan lawmaker arrested for shooting DJ in night club (VIDEO)

Embakasi East MP, Babu Owino has been arrested by police after he shot a DJ at a night club in Nairobi, Kenya.

Report say Owino and the DJ identified as Felix Orinda had engaged in a heated exchange before the Orange Democratic Movement lawmaker pulled out his gun and shot him right inside B-club.

“He drew his pistol and shot the DJ in the neck. The victim was rushed to Nairobi Hospital in serious condition by the management of the club,” the report reads in part.

Detectives have searched the scene of the incident for the weapon all to no avail.

“Officers are currently at the scene searching for the cartridge,” the report added.

Owino's arrest has now been confirmed been by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) via a tweet saying, “The MP is in lawful custoinvestigations continue”.

Reacting to the incident, Owino issued a statement which reads in part:

“I have been receiving threats against my life and even reported an attempted assassination at the Parliament Police Station under OB number OB21/17/11/2019. I have been living under the weight of intimidation and threats“, he said.

He added: “I invite the relevant authorities to conduct their investigations without fear or favour“.
