At least eight brands of hand sanitisers have been recalled from the market by Kenya's bureau of standards after being deemed substandard.

As a result, the bureau has suspended the permits of the manufacturers and ordered them to "recall the substandard sanitisers from the market and institute corrective actions".

According to BBC, the bureau said it would notify the public once the manufacturers have met the required standards.

The bureau said it made the discovery during recent market surveillance.

As of the time of this report, the health ministry has recorded a total of 887 cases of COVID-19 and 50 deaths, according to Worldometers.
