Former Kenyan prime minister, Raila Odinga has offered his condolences to parents who lost their children in a stampede at a primary school area; after they were let out to go home.

The unfortunate event saw 13 children dead and 20 other students injured according to the police in charge of Kakemega central area, David Kabena.

Odinga commented on the tragedy.

“My heartfelt condolences to parents that have lost loved ones in the unfortunate and regrettable tragedy at Kakamega Primary School. I wish a quick recovery to the injured children and pray that God grant strength to the affected families,” he said on Twitter.

He also vowed to get to the bottom of the matter.
