Embakasi MP Babu Owino has been moved to Gigiri Police Station over fears that his supporters are planning to stage a protest to demand his release.

Owino was arrested and detained for shooting a DJ at a night club in Nairaobi, Kenya.

A CCTV video which surfaced from the club shows the moment Owino pulled out his pistol and shot the DJ at close range.

It is reported that they had had a heated exchange before the lawmaker shot the DJ who is currently in critical condition at a hospital.

Owino who was formerly held at Kilimani Police Station has now been transfered to Gigiri Police Station.

Confirming the development, his lawyer Cliff Ombetta said, "Babu has been moved to Gigiri to avoid the kind of traffic we had yesterday of people insisting they want to see him. At that particular time, they were interfering with investigations because the moment you are here and want to talk to him, everything has to stop".

He also revealed that detectives have gone to Owino's house as investigations continue.

This morning, the officers went to his house and conducted a search probably to recover other ammunition which he is legally entitled to hold but at the moment with this kind of case that is going on, we cannot object the DCI can hold them (ammunition) for the time being," he added.
