Bayer Leverkusen forward Nathan Tella has expressed his joy at scoring against Union Berlin, considering it a great way to head into the international break, Soccernet.ng reports.
The former Southampton forward, who recently earned his first call-up to play for the Super Eagles in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, found the net in Leverkusen’s 4-0 victory.
Scoring in the Bundesliga clash, Tella conveyed his happiness for securing his first league goal and sees it as a positive reminder to Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro of his qualities as a winger heading into the Nigeria clash.
“Great way to go into the international break. Happy to score my first Bundesliga goal,” he shared on his X (Formerly Twitter) feed.
The 24-year-old made a ten-minute cameo appearance, replacing Jeremie Frimpong when Leverkusen was 3-0 up, showcasing his threat as he sealed the victory with a goal.
Tella connected with a pass inside the box, leaving Frederik Ronnow helpless as he fired home into the right corner to make it 4-0.
As Tella gears up for his Super Eagles debut, he aims to build on this performance in Nigeria’s upcoming World Cup qualifying clashes against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
