Ivorian international Yan Diomande has hit the ground running since completing his record move to Real Madrid in the summer.

The 19-year-old featured prominently as Los Blancos secured a 4-1 victory over his former club RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Diomande came off the bench in the 70th minute, replacing Vinicius Junior.

The teen sensation set up Kylian Mbappe for Madrid's third goal of the game in the 83rd minute before adding the fourth four minutes later.

Diomande became the first African teenager to score and assist in the UEFA Champions League since Nigeria's Obafemi Martins achieved this feat 23 years ago.

Martins announced himself on the European stage with a goal and an assist for Inter Milan in their famous 3–0 win over Arsenal at Highbury in the UEFA Champions League in September 2003.

The former Super Eagles striker to set up Argentine striker Julio Cruz for the opening goal in the 22nd minute, before scoring Inter's third goal of the game in the 41st minute after holding off a challenge from Sol Campbell before finishing with his left foot past goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.

UEFA’s contemporary match report described Martins as a 19-year-old at the time, however, Inter’s official website later stated that he was born on 28 October 1984. Based on that birth date, he was 18 years old on September 17, 2003. He turned 19 about six weeks later.
