Devoured by the Wild Dogs: Super Eagles return home after 'wotowoto' beating from Guinea-Bissau

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have returned home with their tails between their legs after a humbling loss to the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Eric Chelle's side made their trip to Bissau on Monday, September 28, brimming with confidence after coming from a goal down to beat Madagascar in their AFCON qualifiers opener in Uyo.

However, the Super Eagles, who were aiming to soar high, ended up being devoured by the Wild Dogs at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau.

The result means Guinea-Bissau have now taken a commanding lead in Group L with 6 points, with Nigeria in second place on three points.

Tanzania and Madagascar sit in third and fourth place respectively with a point each in the group.

With only one automatic qualification spot left up for grabs beyond co-hosts Tanzania, the pressure is mounting on the Super Eagles ahead of their remaining fixtures.

The Super Eagles will now begin preparations ahead of their international friendly against Russia on Tuesday, October 6, at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.
