Wilfred Ndidi has taken a major step towards full fitness after returning to training with Besiktas following two weeks spell on the sidelines due to injury.
The Super Eagles captain was pictured taking part in a team session on Monday at the club’s BJK Nevzat Demir facilities, working alongside his teammates under manager Sergen Yalçın as preparations began for their Ziraat Türkiye Cup quarter-final clash against Corendon Alanyaspor.
Ndidi has been out of action since suffering a Grade 2 partial tear in his hamstring during Besiktas’ 1–0 defeat to Fenerbahçe on April 5.
The midfielder was forced off late in the game after feeling discomfort, with the match decided by a stoppage-time penalty converted by Kerem Aktürkoğlu.
The injury ruled him out of subsequent fixtures, including the home game against Antalyaspor, which he also missed due to suspension for accumulated bookings, as well as the recent 2-1 loss to Samsunspor.
His return to training now offers a boost to Besiktas ahead of a crucial stage in their season, although a decision on his availability for the upcoming cup tie against Alanyaspor is yet to be made.
Manager Yalçın is expected to assess the 29-year-old’s condition over the coming days before determining whether he will be included in the matchday squad.
Since joining the Istanbul club from Leicester City last summer, Ndidi has made 26 appearances across all competitions, including two outings in the Türkiye Cup, and has scored twice in the league.
