Head coach of Brazil, Carlo Ancelotti, has insisted that Santos forward Neymar Jr. is on the right track ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Ancelotti said this while addressing the speculation around Neymar’s potential place in Brazil’s squad.
The former Real Madrid manager made it clear that the former Barcelona and PSG star’s fitness will be the deciding factor.
“He has two months to show he still has the qualities to play in the next World Cup,” Ancelotti said via GOAL.
“I believe he can return to 100%. I’ve said it before, and I’ll be clear: only physically ready players will get my call-up.
“After his knee injury, Neymar has made a good comeback; he is scoring goals. He needs to continue in this direction and improve his fitness. He’s on the right track.”
Neymar remains Brazil’s all-time leading scorer, with 79 goals and 59 assists in 128 senior international appearances.
