Super Eagles attacker Akor Adams revealed the importance of collective effort within the Super Eagles squad ahead of AFCON 2025, Soccernet.ng reports.
The former Montpellier star insists that success at the tournament will depend on teamwork rather than individual brilliance.
The Sevilla forward stressed that Nigeria’s selection reflects quality across the board, with every player expected to contribute as the Super Eagles push for a strong campaign.
What has Akor Adams said?
“I think that’s why we’re all here,” Adams said to Soccernet.ng. “It’s obvious that the best players from Nigeria are selected to go for the tournament.”
Adams singled out Victor Osimhen as a crucial figure in Nigeria’s attacking plans but was quick to note that goals and victories come from shared responsibility across the team.
“Victor [Osimhen] is the man for us, and we all know that,” he said. “Everyone puts in their own shift. It takes the goalkeeper to save goals, it takes the defender to defend, so it’s a whole teamwork.”
The striker also made it clear that he is ready to contribute in front of goal alongside his teammates.
“Victor [Osimhen] will give us goals, I will give goals and we win,” Adams added.
Focus firmly on Super Eagles' group-stage task
Looking ahead to the group stage, Adams refused to single out any particular opponent, maintaining that Nigeria’s attention remains firmly on their own performance.
“I think every opponent is tough because they come to win as well, as well as we do,” he said. “We’re completely focused on ourselves and we try to get as much points as possible to go through the group, and we see what happens.”
Nigeria begin their AFCON 2025 campaign to secure maximum points in the group stage clash against Tanzania as they target progression to the knockout rounds.
