The Pharaohs of Egypt edged the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2–1 in a pre-AFCON friendly at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday night.

Head coach Eric Chelle fielded a relatively new team for the game.

Pyramids midfielder Mahmoud Saber gave the Pharaohs the lead before Chidozie Awaziem equalised for Nigeria on the stroke of half-time.

The Nantes defender nodded home a free kick from Zaidu Sanusi after the Egyptians failed to deal with the delivery into the box.

However, the Pharaohs reclaimed their lead shortly after the restart, courtesy of Mostafa Mohammed.

The Super Eagles will travel to Morocco on Thursday, December 18, to continue their preparations ahead of the tournament.
