Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has provided a fresh update on Victor Osimhen's injury situation.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined since sustaining an ankle injury while on international duty with Nigeria earlier this month.

Osimhen was substituted in the first half during Nigeria's 1-0 victory over Rwanda in the World Cup qualifiers in Uyo.

The former African Footballer of the Year subsequently missed Nigeria's crucial World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Bloemfontein.

Osimhen has also missed games against Konyaspor, Eyüpspor, and Eintracht Frankfurt after returning to Galatasaray.

Speaking on Osimhen's injury after Galatasaray's 3-1 win over Konyaspor earlier this week, Buruk disclosed that Osimhen is still in pain despite resuming partial training.

“He took part in part of the training session,” Buruk explained.

“He has minor aches and pains. But if he can tolerate them and play, we hope he will be with the team in our next match.”

Buruk added that the Super Eagles striker may return to action against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League next week.

“We will try him out in training. He has played [in training] for 10 minutes already. His pain is still there. We expect him to be in the squad for the Alanyaspor match and to be on the pitch for the Liverpool match.”
