Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi has reportedly sustained a thigh injury during the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

Besiktas confirmed the injury, which occurred while Ndidi was on national duty.

The 28-year-old midfielder was substituted in the 72nd minute by head coach Eric Chelle and replaced by Christantus Uche.

As a result, Ndidi is expected to miss Besiktas’ Turkish Super Lig fixture against Istanbul Başakşehir on Saturday, September 13.

The former Leicester City star joined the Black Eagles this summer following the Foxes’ relegation from the Premier League.

He has since become a key figure in Besiktas’ midfield setup featuring in their last two league appearances.
