Leeds United have secured the signing of AC Milan striker Noah Okafor for £18m, pushing the Premier League’s summer transfer spending to an unprecedented £2.37bn.

The Switzerland international has inked a four-year contract with the newly promoted club.

According to a report obtained from the BBC Sports website, the 25-year-old marks Leeds’ ninth acquisition since their Championship triumph, which earned them a return to the Premier League.

Okafor expressed his excitement, stating, “Playing in the Premier League was my childhood dream, so this move was a no-brainer. I’m thrilled to join, and my style fits the league’s intensity perfectly.

“As a kid, I dreamed of playing in the Premier League. That’s why for me it was quite an easy decision,” said Okafor.

“My football suits the Premier League so this is like a dream come true. I can’t wait to step on the field.

“I heard that the Premier League is the best league in the world, it’s so intense. I have loads of friends that played there. I’m really, really excited,” she said.

Okafor’s arrival means Premier League clubs have now spent more than the previous record in a single transfer window, the £2.36bn total in the summer of 2023.

The Swiss played for Basel and RB Salzburg before joining Milan on a five-year deal in 2023.

He scored seven goals in 54 games for the Italian club before ending last season on loan at Serie A rivals Napoli
