'It is football' — Nwabali on why Super Eagles can still qualify for World Cup

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali believes Nigeria can still qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their abysmal start to the qualifiers campaign.

The three-time African champions currently sit in fourth position in Group C after managing just seven points from six games.

With just four matches left in the qualifiers, Eric Chelle's side cannot afford to drop any more points if they want to avoid missing out on two consecutive FIFA World Cup tournaments.

Speaking in an interview with Brila FM, the Chippa United goalkeeper expressed confidence in the Super Eagles' ability to secure the World Cup ticket.

“It is football. Just because we are Nigeria doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed to win every game. You can see we still have a lot of chances to qualify, despite where we are on the table.

“We’re going to push in our next game, take it one game at a time, and we’ll see how our next four games go.”
