Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has thrown his weight behind head coach Eric Chelle as the right man for the Super Eagles job.

Onyemaechi's statement comes in response to recent criticism from Sunday Oliseh regarding the appointment of foreign coaches for the Super Eagles.

Oliseh, who had a brief stint as the Super Eagles head coach between 2015 and 2016, believes Nigeria has competent local coaches capable of leading the senior men's national team.

In contrast to Oliseh's claim, Olympiacos defender Onyemaechi believes Malian tactician Eric Chelle is the ideal man for the job.

“In the few months I’ve worked with him, I can say he’s the right guy for the job,” Onyemaechi told TVC News Nigeria in an exclusive interview.

“There’s noise outside saying he doesn’t know what he’s doing, but if you come closer, you’ll know he’s the right guy for the job.”

Eric Chelle remains unbeaten after five games since taking over as Super Eagles head coach in January, recording three wins and two draws.
