Former Fenerbahce midfielder Sergen Yalcin has advised Galatasaray against paying €80 million for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen had a successful season-long loan stay with Galatasaray, churning out 36 goals and eight assists in 40 appearances for the Lions.

The Super Eagles star helped the club claim the Super Lig and the Turkish League. He also won the highest goalscorer award for himself.

Due to his impressive season, Galatasaray have been quite vocal about signing Osimhen permanently and prevent him from returning to Napoli or joining any other club.

The fans have offered several gifts, and the club's leadership have even offered to match Osimhen's salary demands.

To get the Super Eagles star, Galatasaray would have to cough out at least €70 million, which is almost quadruple of the current transfer record of €19.5 million, which Fenerbahce paid for Youssef En-Nesyri last summer.

However, former Turkey midfielder Yalcin believes that it is a terrible idea to a Turkish club to fork out such an amount. He believe that the only way the transfer would be justified is Galatasaray win the Champions League.

“Osimhen is a very good player, but a figure like 80 million Euros is not realistic in this league,” Yalcin said per Ege de SonSoz.

“Yes, Osimhen should be acquired, but not by paying 80 million Euros. These figures are a dream in such a league. Let's be realistic.”

“Will Galatasaray win the Champions League by getting Osimhen? Do you really believe that?

“These things cannot be done with just transfers. Planning, squad depth, system… It's all a whole.”

Victor Osimhen has always had eyes elsewhere

This is an entirely new territory for Victor Osimhen. Even when he won the league for Napoli, he did not get this much love from the fans and the club.

So it could play into his head. Galatasaray even went as far as letting Osimhen's daughter announce his name after he scored a goal in his last game.

However, Osimhen has always had eyes for the English Premier League. He has been linked with multiple top clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle United.

Now that his value has dropped to €70 million, some of those clubs would be willing to meet meet his valuation. If any of them makes a bid, it is difficult to see Osimhen staying at Napoli or moving to Rams Park.
