Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has shared his expectations for the upcoming Unity Cup tournament and explained the reasoning behind his squad selections.
Nigeria is set to face arch-rivals Ghana and either Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago in a mini-tournament later this month.
Chelle, who recently named two separate squads for the tournament and Nigeria’s friendly against Russia, has stated that the upcoming matches will help his technical team assess new players—particularly those from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) who have been invited for the games.
"We’re looking forward to taking part in the Unity Cup, as it will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles," Chelle told NFF Media.
"It will help us strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October."
The Unity Cup will take place from Wednesday, May 27, to May 31 at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium in London.
