Premier League giants Manchester United have been listed among the clubs that have shown keen interest in signing Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen in recent transfer windows.

Osimhen, 25, has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with top EPL clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal all reportedly interested in his services.

Other clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League add to the list of clubs who have been chasing the signature of the reigning African Footballer of the Year.

Despite having several suitors, Victor Osimhen’s hefty €130m release clause became a significant obstacle to his move away from Napoli.

The Nigerian international, who was expected to leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium despite signing a contract extension last December, eventually managed to engineer a move away from Naples, joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

The move to the Turkish Super Lig was necessitated by the player’s deteriorating relationship with the club after his failed move to either Chelsea or Al Ahli on transfer deadline day.

Having hit the ground running in Turkey after recording two assists in his first two games for Galatasaray, ESPN recently reported the reason Manchester United have been skeptical about signing Osimhen from Napoli.

Manchester United’s hierarchy reportedly had doubts about submitting a bid for the Super Eagles striker as they believed he could replicate Romelu Lukaku’s example at Old Trafford.

The Belgian international impressed in Serie A after struggling in his two previous stints with Chelsea and Manchester United in the Premier League.

In 96 games for Manchester United, Lukaku scored 42 goals and provided 12 assists, while he recorded 15 goals and two assists in 59 games for Chelsea.

Interestingly, United opted to bring in Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, both from Serie A, splashing £108.5m on the two strikers.

Other reports have cited that United boss Erik ten Hag was not pleased with Osimhen's ability to link up play.
