Nigerian defender William Troost-Ekong scored the winner as PAOK beat Borac Banja Luka in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second round tie at the Toumba Stadium in Thessaloniki.
The Super Eagles vice-captain was making his first appearance in a competitive fixture since sustaining an injury after the African Cup of Nations in Cote d'Ivoire.
Having spent five months on the sidelines, the 30-year-old marked his return in grand style, helping his side to a 3-2 win over the Bosnian outfit.
Troost-Ekong scored the winner in the 51st minute of the game.
The second leg of the tie will hold next week Wednesday, July 31.
The winner of both legs will automatically advance to the third round of the competition.
