How Jose Mourinho convinced me to join Inter Milan - Samuel Eto'o

Former Cameroon forward Samuel Eto'o has disclosed the genius move by Jose Mourinho that convinced him to join Inter Milan in 2009.

Fresh off winning the treble with Barcelona, Eto'o surprised fans of the Catalan club after deciding to join the Italian giants.

The former Cameroon striker went on to win another treble, helping Inter Milan to the Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League titles. He became the first player to win back-to-back trebles with two different clubs.

According to Eto'o, it took the Portuguese gaffer only a photo to persuade him to make that bold decision to move to the Italian league.

"Mourinho convinced me in a simple way," Eto'o told Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Marca. He sent me a photo of Inter's No. 9 shirt and wrote to me saying: 'It's yours, it's waiting for you'.

"[Marco] Materazzi then messaged me saying: 'If you come to Inter, we'll win everything. I didn't have his number in my phone so I asked [Demetrio] Albertini: 'Is it yours?'

"Such a thing had never happened to me in my whole career and that message carried great weight in my decision."

Eto'o went on to become a legend for the Nerazurris before later leaving to join Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala in 2011, per Transfermakt.
