Former international footballer, Emmanuel Adebayor has stated that he is a Nigerian although he represented Togo internationally during his active years.
According to him, he is a Yoruba from Nigeria but was born and raised in Togo.
The 39-year-old made this known in a recent interview with TVC.
He said: “My father’s name is Adeyi Adebayor, and my mother’s name is Alice Eniola Adekanye. So, I am a pure Yoruba man. I was just born and raised in Togo, but I am fully from Nigeria.”
Adebayo was in Nigeria to participate in the novelty match organised by African football legends in honour of former Super Eagles captain Austin Jay Jay Okocha, who turned 50 just recently.
