Pochettino set to become Chelsea's next coach

Chelsea are reportedly in advanced talks with Mauricio Pochettino as their search for a permanent manager continues.

The Blues reappointed club legend Frank Lampard as a caretaker coach till the end of the season following the sacking of Graham Potter.

Despite the change of hands, Chelsea's results have still been abysmal as the former Everton boss lost all four of his first four matches in charge, including a 4-0 aggregate defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

The poor string of results has ruled out Frank Lampard's chances of being reconsidered for the job at the end of the season.

The three likely candidates initially shortlisted for the vacant role at Stamford Bridge were Luiz Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, and Mauricio Pochettino.

Meanwhile, the former Barcelona boss and the ex-Bayern Munich have both pulled out of the race leaving Pochettino as the sole candidate for the role.

The Guardian reports that the ex-Tottenham Hotspurs boss is likely to be confirmed as the next Chelsea manager in the coming days.

Pochettino, 51, has been out of job for the past year after he was sacked by Paris Saint Germain last season following the club's exit from the Champions League at the last-16 stage.
