Moffi battles Hakimi, Diallo for Foé award

Following his impressive goal haul in the French topflight, Nigeria international, Terem Moffi, has been named among the 11 finalists for the Marc-Vivien Foé prize, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Marc-Vivien Foé prize is an award given to the best African player in Ligue 1 in the year under review.

The Super Eagles forward, who has scored 19 goals and registered two assists in 30 games for Lorient and Nice in all competitions this season, is up against current holder of the award, Seko Fofana (Lens).

Other nominees for the award are Achraf Hakimi (PSG), Yunis Abdelhamid (Reims), Mama Baldé (Troyes), Mohamed Camara (Monaco), Habib Diallo (Strasbourg), Chancel Mbemba (Marseille), Marshall Munetsi (Reims), Salis Abdul Samed (Lens) and Hamari Traoré (Rennes).

A jury of nearly 100 former players and journalists, who specialise in French and African football, will decide the winner.

While Nantes forward, Moses Simon, got a nomination for the award last year, Napoli forward Victor Osimhen was the last Nigerian who won it.

In 2020, Osimhen, 21, became the youngest-ever player to win the award while at Lille.

The award is presented by France 24 and RFI with the winner announced by the two media firms May 30.
