UCL: Napoli boss Spalletti warns Osimhen, teammates ahead of Frankfurt clash

Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti has sounded a word of caution to his players ahead of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 second-leg clash against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Italian gaffer has urged his side to guard against complacency as they take on the Bundesliga side on Wednesday, March 15 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples.

The Serie A leaders go into the tie with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg and are huge favourites to seal qualification to the next round of the competition.

Despite the 2-0 aggregate lead coupled with the home advantage heading into the second leg, the former Inter Milan manager has charged his side to go all out and approach the game as a final.

“Seeing as it is practically a final, I want to see the attitude of a team that is starved and wants a result. I’ve seen them in training all term and they never let their heads drop.

“Now the test is to forget what has happened in the past and focus on getting the job done now. Don’t forget Eintracht got through a group that had Tottenham, Marseille and Sporting. Last year they won away to a Barcelona side that eliminated us, so we have total respect for the work Oliver Glasner is doing, we know it will be tough.

“It would be terribly presumptuous for us to assume we’re already in the next round, that is not the way we do things. Tomorrow we need the head, the heart… and a bit of luck.”

Osimhen, who gave his side the lead in the first leg will look forward to replicating that same performance at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium tonight.
