U-20 AFCON: Bosso eyes bronze ahead of Tunisia clash

Ladan Bosso Ladan Bosso

Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso is confident his charges can clinch the bronze medal when they tackle Tunisia for a third-place finish on Friday, March 10 (today).

The record winners of the competitions were denied the opportunity to win yet another title after they lost 1-0 to Gambia in the semi-finals after a dominant display.

North African side Tunisia also lost by 3-0 to Senegal in the other semi-final encounter.

Speaking ahead of their encounter, Bosso assured fans that his team will do things right against Tunisia and bring smiles back to the faces of Nigerians.

“It was unfortunate we lost the semifinals and now we will play the third place match,” Bosso told journalists at his pre-match press conference.

“The third place is as good as the final. We believe if we get it right we will take something home and I believe we can put smiles on the faces of football-loving Nigerians.

“Nevertheless it is always believed that second best is not good enough but we have to fight for third place.”

The former El-Kanemi Warriors coach however emphasized the importance of his side qualifying for the U-20 FIFA World Cup in Indonesia.

“The most important thing is the target given to us was to first qualify the team to the World Cup which we achieved,” Bosso noted.

“We wanted to get something additional but fortunately we didn’t get it right.
