Champions League: Fans troll Messi after UCL exit

Lionel Messi Lionel Messi

Rival fans on social media have aimed a dig at Lionel Messi following Paris Saint-Germain's exit from the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night.

German champions Bayern Munich edged the French champions 2-0 at the Allianz Arena in Munich courtesy of goals from Choupo-Moting and Serge Gnabry to seal a 3-0 aggregate win.

Despite winning the World Cup last year, Messi's quest of ending his 8-year wait for the UEFA Champions League trophy suffered another setback as PSG exited at the last 16 for a second consecutive season.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner last won the UCL in 2015 with Barcelona after the Spanish giants beat Juventus 3-1 at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

Following PSG's elimination, some fans took to social media to slam the FIFA Best award winner for not showing up for the French club when it matters most.

Others labelled his signing as a bad investment by the Qatari owners.

Check out some reactions below
