Victor Osimhen could break 125-year Serie A record

Victor Osimhen scored his 13th league goal of the Serie A season against Salernitana on Saturday.

The forward enjoyed another good outing on the pitch as the league leaders recorded a comfortable 2-0 win on the road.

Osimhen thought he had given the visitors lead in the first half when he fired home a volley from tight angle following a nice flick from Giovanni Di Lorenzo, only for VAR to rule the goal out for offside.

The striker finally got his goal in the second half, after reacting quickly to slam home the rebound after Eljif Elmas’ shot crashed against the post.

The Nigerian extended his goal haul to 13 in 15 games for the Partenopei. He also has 3 assists to his name.In the 125-year history of the Italian top-flight, no African player has ever finished the season as the competition’s top scorer.

The 24-year-old has four goals more than Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.
