FC Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie was on target for the Catalan giants as they thrashed third-division side AD Ceuta 5-0 in the Spanish Copa del Rey on Thursday, January 19.

The 26-year-old Ivorian international scored one and assisted another as the Blaugranas cruised past their rivals to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Spanish King's Cup.

Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati and Raphina scored the remaining goals for Xavi Hernandes' side.

Speaking in a post-match reaction, the ex-AC Milan midfielder explained the meaning behind his iconic salute goal celebration after hitting the back of the net in the 77th minute.

Kessie disclosed that his goal was dedicated to his late Father who served in the Ivorian army.

“My father was a footballer in Côte d'Ivoire, but then he found himself in the army to serve his country. He died when I was 11 years old. So when I score, I like to celebrate by making this salute in his memory."

Barcelona will host Real Sociedad in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.
