David Okereke was in action as Cremonese caused a huge upset on Tuesday night by eliminating Serie A leaders Napoli from the Coppa Italia.

The Serie A bottom-placed beat the high-flying Naples-based side 5-4 in the shootouts to qualify for the last eight of the competition.

Charles Pickel gave Cremonese a surprised lead in the 18th minute after getting on the end of David Okereke's low cross from the left flank.

But Juan Jesus levelled the score for Spalletti's side in minute 33 before Argentine forward Giovanni Simeone overturned the score three minutes later.

Ghanaian international Felix Afena-Gyan pecked Napoli back with a thumping header with just three minutes of regulation time left to play to force the game to extra time.

Napoli's talisman, Osimhen came off the bench in the first half of extra time and immediately made his presence felt by forcing a great save from Cremonese goalkeeper Marco Camesecchi

Both sides couldn't find the back of the net in extra time and the game progressed to the shootouts.

Okereke and his side against all odds prevailed in the spot kicks as they beat Napoli 5-4 in the shootout to end their hopes of winning the treble this season.
