Zinedine Zidane's pick on who the better is between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi has resurfaced.

Recall that Zidane, a former World Cup winner had explained to Goal that the Portuguese captain is better than the Argentinian.

"Cristiano is the best. Messi is his rival and it's the rivalry everyone wants to see. But Ronaldo is phenomenal. There are no words to describe him. He is much better than me, even though I had a great career. He's the greatest of all time," he said at the time.

The Frenchman knows the new Al-Nassr signing quite well, having coached him at Real Madrid.

Zidane spent four years at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and got to work with Ronaldo during that period.

The veteran striker played 114 matches and scored 112 goals during his time under Zidane, SportsKeeda noted.

The Frenchman made the statement in the past, before Messi's World Cup win, and some feel his opinion might have changed since.

The Argentinian solidified his legacy by lifting the trophy with Argentina, while Ronaldo because the highest-paid earner in the sporting world with his move to Saudi Arabia.
