Amusan named African best female athlete

Tobi Amusan has been named Best Female Athlete in Africa for 2022 by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA).

The recognition came few hours she was named as the fifth best athlete in the World by the IAAF.

The 25-year-old occupies the in 1st place in African ranking, with Faith Kipyegon of Kenya 2nd place and Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia completing the top three 3rd.

In the male category, Soufiane El Bakkali of Mail emerged as the best male athlete, seeing Kenyan duo of Eluid Kipchoge and Emmanuel Korir to 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Youngster Letsile Tebogo Botswana was named as the best male prospect from Africa, while Faith Cherotich is the best female prospect.
