Africa's remaining representative at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, Morocco have beaten Spain 3-0 on penalty shootouts to progress to the last-8.

After a fiercely contested battle at the Education City Stadium, no side managed to find the back of the net after 120 minutes.

The game progressed to the lottery of penalty shootouts with the North African giants emerging victorious after Sevilla's goalkeeper Yassine Bono saved two spot-kicks.

Achraf Hakimi slotted home the winner to give Morocco a historic victory over the 2010 world champions.

Morocco has qualified for the quarterfinals for the first time in the country's history, joining the likes of Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana as the only African teams to reach the last-8 at the World Cup.

Morocco will face either Portugal or Switzerland in the quarterfinals.
