Former Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel has picked Nigeria's triumph at the 2013 Nations Cup as the highlight of his professional career.

The Stephen Keshi-led side won Nigeria's third AFCON in South Africa after beating their West African counterparts Burkina Faso 1-0 in the grand finale.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder, Obi, was an integral member of the team, as he produced some remarkable performances in midfield to guide the Super Eagles to glory.

Speaking in a viral video on the microblogging app, Twitter Obi expressed his delight to have won the Nations Cup with Nigeria.

The ex-Super Eagles captain also noted that the African Cup of Nations is on the same pedestal as the UEFA Champions League.

“Many African football legends did not win the Nations Cup, and I am so proud of myself winning it with Nigeria which was massive for me then with the Super Eagles.

“Winning the Nations Cup was the highlight of my career as I rate the title on the same level with Champions League.”

The 35-year-old retired from professional football in September this year after an illustrious 20-year career.

Obi won 91 caps for Nigeria scoring 6 goals in the Super Eagles shirt.
