Flamingos midfielder Taiwo Afolabi is delighted with the team’s glorious finish to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup campaign.

The Flamingos edged European champions, Germany, to finish in third place at the PY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

Nigeria’s U-17 girls won their first-ever World Cup bronze medal after a 3-2 penalty shootout win over Germany, following a dramatic 3-3 draw in regulation time.

The Bankole Olowookere-tutored team became the second African side to achieve the feat.

Reacting to the game, the Midfielder tweeted: "What a win, this is a proud moment for me and the entire team, we made history. Thank you, Nigerians and football lovers, all around the world for your support always.

Meanwhile, the team is expected to fly back to Nigeria at noon on Tuesday, November 1.
