Flamingos team captain Dah Zossu Alvine has promised a better performance against Germany in the third-place playoff of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in India.

Nigeria lost the semi-final to Columbia 6-5 on penalty shootouts after a goalless draw in regulation time.

Coach Bankole's side failed to replicate their excellent performance against the United States in the quarterfinal.

Speaking ahead of their clash against the European giants, Dah Zossu apologised to the fans for letting them down in their previous game while promising a better performance against Germany in their final game.

“Wednesday’s defeat was really devastating, we wanted to play in the final, but we didn’t make it.”

“We were pained and heartbroken last night, I want to apologize to the fans that believed in us.”

“We have picked ourselves up and will do all we can to win the bronze medal.” She concluded.

Nigeria will face Germany for a second time in the tournament on Sunday, October 30.
Flamingos lost their group opener to the Europeans by 2-1 in their group opener.
