Former Nigeria international Christian Chukwu has charged Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro to refuse the temptation to field injured players against Algeria.

The Eagles trade tackles with the Desert Foxes at the Olympic Stadium in Oran today, Tuesday, in an international friendly game.

Several Nigerian stars have withdrawn from the encounter due to injury, including Nottingham Forest’s Emmanuel Dennis, Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, and captain Ahmed Musa among others.

The absence of these key players could allow new boys Club Brugge’s Raphael Onyedika and Hapoel Jerusalem goalkeeper Adeleye Adebayo to make their official debut for Nigeria.

Casa Pia’s exciting winger Saviour Godwin and Rivers United Ebube Duru are also in line to play their first FIFA-recognised match for the three-time Africa Cup of Nations winner.

All four players were involved during Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with the home-based Algerian team in a test game on Friday.

Former Super Eagles coach Chukwu has backed Jose Peseiro to give opportunities to the newly invited players against Algeria.

The veteran tactician also charged Peseiro to field only fit and uninjured players for the encounter.

“Those with injury should not be allowed to play,” Chukwu told Brila FM. “It is only logical that they are rested.

“And you can give exposure to the new and untested players in the team.”

Algeria have beaten Nigeria in the last two meetings between the former Afcon kings.

But Peseiro is convinced that the Super Eagles have all it takes to halt that losing streak at the Olympic Stadium in Oran.
