Ayo Babes, Ajeromi, at the weekend won the second edition of JOF U-13 Football Cup Tournament played at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.

Ayo Babes defeated Junior Arsenal, Alimosho 3-2 in an explosive encounter witnessed by dignitaries and football scouts.

In the third place match, Prince Boys, Lekki beat AZ Zola Babes, Ijegun 6-5 on penalties after both teams had played 4-4 at regulation time.

For winning the competition, Ayo Babes received N300,000 and a trophy, while the runner up, Junior Arsenal got N200,000, just as Prince Boys went home with N150,000 and AZ Zola got a consolation prize of N100,000 for the fourth position.
Ayo Babes’ Boluwatife Thomas won the most valuable player award, while Ishola Alimeen of AZ Zola lifted the highest goal scorer award with nine goals. Junior Arsenal’s Bakare Quymola won the best goalkeeper’s prize.

The best-behaved team award went to Young Stars of Lagos Island, while AZ Zola’s Bankole Abdullahi got the best coach award.

Speaking on the event, Managing Director of JOF Nigeria Limited, Dr. Onigbajo Olugboyegun, expressed satisfaction with the level of competition, adding that the finalists gave good account of themselves.

“These boys have shown to us in this competition that they have the skills and talent to be great in football. It won’t be a surprise if the boys we are here watching for free today make it great and we will be paying money to watch them in the future. I am so delighted by their performance, which has given us the confidence and happiness that we are adding value to their lives,” Olugboyegun stated.
