Young Arsenal forward, Bukayo Saka has explained why he choose to represent the Three Lions of England on the international stage rather than the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Saka, who is part of the England squad to face Denmark, Belgium and Wales put an end to the debate on who he will be representing on the international stage.

Saka who was born in London to Nigerian parents said his decision to choose his country of birth is down to the progress of the team in recent years but added that he is proud of his Nigerian heritage, Brila.net reports.

“I feel like I’m really, really proud of my Nigerian heritage,” Saka told Sky Sports.

“My dad was born here, my mum was born in Nigeria, but they both grew up in Nigeria and met each other in Nigeria,” he added.

“They came over and when they came to England it wasn’t easy for them because obviously, it’s a new country.

“I always still watch Nigeria’s games where I can and I wish them all the best and support them all the way, but I’ve seen the process of how England are transforming and I think in the future they’re going to do great stuff.

“I feel like it was right for me to choose England.” He concluded.

Saka scored his first Premier League goal of the season in Arsenal’s 2 – 1 over Sheffield United on Sunday.
