Darren Brent has backed Everton to make a move for Ivory Coast international, Wilfried Zaha, to replace Alex Iwobi.

The former Tottenham Hotspurs striker, Bent, believes Zaha’s work rate will help Everton’s quest for a title next season.

Iwobi joined the Toffees last summer from Arsenal on a five-year contract for a fee in the region of £35m but failed to justify his fee after making 29 appearances in his debut season and scoring twice.

“I think it is (a step up),” Bent told Football Insider.

“I know you might look at where they are in the league but I’d say it’s a step-up in regards, they have a top manager, and he’s going to attract top players.

“I like what they’re doing down there, they’re building something quite special, so it would be nice for Zaha to go there and transform them to where they feel they should be.

“I really like it, it suits him well and he’d do well going there.

“It’s about going to the best fit for him and if he goes to Everton he’d get a lot of game time and he’d go well.”

“For me, Alex Iwobi doesn’t do it for me, his end product’s not good enough, he doesn’t score enough goals, doesn’t create enough goals so he’s not really doing anything.

“For me, if Zaha can get himself down there and play on the left-hand side with Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Gomes, I really like what they’re doing down there. If I’m Everton, I go for that one 100 per cent,” Brent added.
