Premier League season to start September 12

A new season of the English Premier League will begin on September 12 and run till May 23, 2021.

This was announced after an agreement by the Premier League shareholders.

The Championship, League One and League Two seasons will also start on the same date but end on May 8, 2021.

The leagues will start behind closed doors with fans only returning in October as proposed by UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson.

"Premier League shareholders today agreed to start the 2020-21 Premier League season on September 12, 2020.

"The final match round of the campaign will take place on May 23, 2021. The Premier League will continue to consult the FA and EFL regarding the scheduling of all domestic competitions", a statement read.
