Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has dissociated himself from claims that he's a candidate for the role of chairman of the club.

The position is currently vacant following the stepping down of Sir Chips Keswick who spent 15 years in the position.

Keswick's exit leaves the board with Stan Kroenke, Josh Kroenke, Lord Harris and Ken Friar.

Wenger who spent 22 years as manager at Arsenal is currently FIFA’s chief of global football development.

Speaking to beIN Sport concerning his candidacy for the role of chairman, he said, “The candidate says that he’s not a candidate.”
