Mourinho told me I was rubbish - Chelsea defender, Zouma

Chelsea defender, Kurt Zouma has revealed how he was told that he was "rubbish" by the club's former manager, Jose Mourinho.

Zouma was brought to Chelsea in 2014 by Mourinho as a 19-year old from St Etienne.

After a performance, Zouma recalled what Mourinho discussed with him at his office.

“I cannot remember which match we were playing, we were losing 3-1, away from home.

“The following day, he [Mourinho] catches up with me, he takes me to his office, and he asks me if I am ok. I said yes, he asked me if I was sure.

“I said yes again, he replied ‘Because you were rubbish this weekend.’ Like that, direct. It shocked me, but it made me want to immediately respond on the pitch,” Zouma told RMC Sport.

The event saw Zouma going on loan to Stoke City and Everton before being recalled by the new manager, Frank Lampard, under whom he now enjoys regular playtime.
