Jake Paul says efforts to make a fight with Anthony Joshua happen in 2026 are “in the works”, with talks ongoing between both teams.
Paul spoke to Sky Sports ahead of his exhibition bout against Gervonta Davis on November 14.
The YouTube star-turned-boxer insists a bout with the two-time heavyweight champion is plausible despite the size difference and experience gap.
“100 per cent it can happen,” Paul told Sky Sports. “Our teams are already talking and in the works to try and make it happen for next year.”
Paul added that the challenge of facing Joshua excites him.
“It would be fun to take on Anthony Joshua after this fight,” he said.
“Take a massive risk and a massive challenge and to go into a fight where no one thinks that I would even have the slightest chance of winning, that excites me.”
However, Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has warned Paul that the fight depends on his performance against Davis.
“I can’t make that fight until you’ve fought Gervonta Davis in this exhibition,” Hearn previously told Sky Sports.
“If you get chinned by Gervonta Davis, don’t think you’re fighting Anthony Joshua, it’s ridiculous.”
Hearn confirmed that Joshua’s next fight will take place in either Ghana, Saudi Arabia, or London in February 2026, with a mega showdown against Tyson Fury still on the cards for the middle of next year.
Paul also believes he could snare a world title shot at cruiserweight against WBC champion Badou Jack.
“I would say it’s very likely. The stars just have to align, and he has a fight coming up and has to win that, etc,” Paul told Sky Sports.
Joshua last laced up the gloves in September 2024 when he was stopped inside five rounds by then IBF champion Daniel Dubois.
